Manchester-Pontefract aim to end regular season on a high
Group A leaders Manchester-Pontefract will field a strong team against play off chasing Duffield in the last match of the regular season

Probable Teams

Lee Beachill v Nick Matthew

James Willstrop v Renan Lavigne

Nick Taylor v Paul Hargrave

Marcus Berrett v Jon Kemp

Madeline Perry v Vicky Lankester

As you can see from the line ups we are fielding a strong side and I expect competitive matches all the way down the order. The leading women players are both unavailable but we have two top class young women in opposition with Madeline Perry taking on Vicky Lankester. I expect this game to be tight reflecting the close proximity of the respective world rankings.

Unbeaten Marcus Berrettt will take on the talented left hander Jon Kemp at four and Nick Taylor will open proceedings on the glass court against the attacking Paul Hargrave. Hargrave is always a danger in point-a-rally to nine scoring and will represent a tough challenge for Taylor.

We welcome back James Willstrop at two, fresh from his continued assault on the world’s top ten players! James asked to be rested from the last home match following a busy schedule leading up to the Swedish Open. This obviously paid off as he reached the semi final in Sweden beating World Champion Amr Shabana on the way! James will play Frenchman Renan Lavigne, a tenacious competitor himself, who always gives 100%.

Lee Beachill heads the team and will take on the World number 11, Nick Matthew. It was Nick that beat James Willstrop in Sweden, before he lost to Egyptian Karim Darwish in the final, so Lee should have a tough match.

With our play off place secured, the result is obviously more important to Duffield, but I would like to finish the season on a winning note and put on a good show for the Manchester crowd.
