A 'Golden Ticket' is the incentive for squash fans to
buy their Prince English Open tickets early …
Ten 'Golden' tickets out of the first hundred bookings at the
Crucible ticket office will be drawn to signify a special prize, ranging
from top of the range Prince squash equipment to a chance of
playing against one of the world's best players.
The tickets for the Prince English Open, which will be staged at the
Crucible in August, go on sale today (Friday May 9).
All matches will be played on a state-of-the-art glass court, which
allows spectators to view the action from all four sides. The Crucible,
with its unique thrust stage, is a natural 'theatre' for top-class squash.
The tournament, which is the first English Open ever staged, and boasts a
prize fund of $30,000, has been brought to Sheffield by the world's
number one squash player, Peter Nicol and his Eventis Sports
Marketing company.
Peter said: "The announcement of ticket prices for an event is usually quite
a dry affair. We thought we'd have a bit of fun and make the offer of the
golden ticket as a bit of added value to those who buy them early.
"After watching some of the snooker action at the Crucible last week I am
now even more excited at the prospect of playing in an environment with such
a terrific atmosphere."
