SQUASH STARS WILL MAKE A RACKET AT THE CRUCIBLE
World No 1 squash player Peter Nicol was
at the Crucible today (Tuesday) to see some of the action in the Embassy
World Snooker Championships, and to check out snooker’s most famous venue
ahead of a new squash tournament to be staged in August.

The Prince English Open, a new fixture on the PSA World Tour, will bring
most of the world’s top ten to Sheffield from August 13-17.
Former world champion Nicol, who switched
nationality from Scottish to English two years ago, said: “The Crucible is a
perfect arena for squash. When there are 900 people in here the atmosphere
is brilliant. Squash is very popular in Yorkshire so I’m sure it will
attract a lot of interest.”
The squash ace had time to take in a few
frames and revealed he can't wait to play in the famous venue.
"It's amazing," he said. "The court will fit in perfectly.
It's such a tight venue. It will be very hot and noisy.
"It is the first year the event is being held and it will be brilliant."
And who does Nicol fancy to take the world snooker title this year?
"I think Ken Doherty may win it. He has come
through two very
difficult matches but still looks fresh and sharp," he said.
