Legends of Squash Challenge:
Simon Parke (Eng) beat Peter Nicol (Eng) 11-8, 9-11, 11-7

‘LEGENDS OF SQUASH TOUR’ ARRIVES IN LONDON FOR FIRST EVER UK SHOWCASE

The much-anticipated ‘Legends of Squash Tour’ is ready to set the Capital alight tomorrow as a lively sell-out crowd will witness Peter Nicol MBE go head-to-head with fellow Brit, Simon Parke, in the UK’s inaugural exhibition match at East Wintergarden’s dramatic glass venue, ahead of the ISS Canary Wharf Classic Final.

In one of the most intense rivalries ever seen in professional squash, British legend Peter Nicol MBE recently renewed his long time battle with Canadian star, Jonathon Power, for the first time since their professional careers at the Tournament of Champions, New York City in January. Having taken a 2 – 0 victory over his career-rival, Nicol now moves on to another challenging fixture against fellow former British Champion, Simon Parke.

Parke, who reached world number three during his decorated career, faces a tough prospect in his former British team-mate, Nicol, who held the world number one crown for a magnificent 60 months during his time on the PSA Pro Tour.

Nicol, a co-promoter of the ISS Canary Wharf Squash Classic, said: “It was wonderful to receive such a warm reception in New York and I’m sure the Canary Wharf audience will be equally appreciative. Simon is one of the greatest payers to wear an England shirt and he achieved some truly remarkable performances after fighting back from testicular cancer. That shows the kind of passion he has always had for his squash and he continues to play at an extremely high standard after retiring from the PSA World Tour”.

The match will get underway at 6:15pm on the ISS Canary Wharf Squash Classic glass show court and will be shown live on www.PSAsquashtv.com. The match will be enjoyed by a capacity crowd at the prestigious international tournament prior to the main event final which takes place at 7.30pm. Doors open at 5.00pm.
