Galvez Triumphs In All-Mexican Open Final
An all-Mexican final of the Cuauhtémoc Mexican Open saw favourite Eric Galvez triumph in style in Mexico City when he beat unseeded Jose Angel Becerril to win the fourth PSA Tour title of his career.

Galvez, who celebrates his 23rd birthday this week, despatched Australian Luke Margan in just 27 minutes in the semi-finals before facing Becerril, the 21-year-old from Mexico City who had prevailed in a 50-minute encounter with Mexican qualifier Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira.

But Galvez, the Central America and Caribbean Games champion from Puebla, was too strong for his compatriot in the final – and maintained his straight games run in the event by beating Becerril 11-8, 11-4, 11-7 in 50 minutes.

Ferreira & Becerril Burst Into Mexican Open Semis
Local interest in the last four of the Cuauhtémoc Mexican Open trebled when Mexicans Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira and Jose Angel Becerril claimed unexpected places in the semi-finals of the PSA Tour event in Mexico City.

Ferreira, a qualifier, beat Canadian David Phillips 11-6, 11-6, 11-5 in the quarter-finals – and will now meet unseeded compatriot Jose Angel Becerril, who upset another Canadian, fifth seed Ian Power, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 11-1.

Australia's Luke Margan will be attempting to deny the crowd an all-Mexican final. The eighth seed beat fellow countryman Bradley Hindle 11-8, 11-10 (2-0), 9-11, 11-8 and will now face Mexico's top seed Eric Galvez, the 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 victor over sixth-seeded Australian Scott Arnold.

Semi-final line-up:
[1] Eric Galvez (MEX) v [8] Luke Margan (AUS)
Jose Angel Becerril (MEX) v [Q] Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira (MEX)
