Jans Jubilant At Jericho
Second seed Melanie Jans celebrated a notable home success in Vancouver when she upset favourite and compatriot Alana Miller in the final of the Women's Sun & Surf Jericho Squash Open at the Jericho Tennis Club in the Canadian city.

Vancouver-based Jans was strong from start to finish all week - and closed out the final 9-3, 10-9, 6-9, 9-0 to repeat her success over Miller in the 2005 Canadian Nationals final.

The triumph marks the Montreal-born 33-year-old's sixth WISPA World Tour title success since 1994 – all but the first of which have been won on home soil.

Top Seeds Serve Up All-Canadian Sun & Surf Final In Vancouver
Top seeds Alana Miller and Melanie Jans have served up an all-Canadian final in the Women's Sun & Surf Jericho Squash Open at the Jericho Tennis Club in Vancouver, Canada.

Mami Nishio put up a hard fight against Miller, and took the opening game against the favourite - but the fourth seed from Japan eventually ran out of steam as Miller went on to win the next three to triumph 5-9, 9-7, 10-8, 9-5.

In her third WISPA World Tour final, the 26-year-old Panamerican Champion from Winnipeg will face second seed Melanie Jans, a three-times Canadian national champion.

Vancouver-based Jans avenged her defeat in the 2006 Canadian Nationals final when she beat third seed Carolyn Russell in four games. Jans dropped the first game, but went on to win the next three with incredible shot selection to record a 7-9, 9-1, 9-0, 9-2 victory.

The climax will mark the ninth WISPA final appearance by Montreal-born Jans.
