Alarcon Wins Ornitargin Crown
Home hero Rafael F Alarcon beat Colombian Miguel Angel Rodriguez to win the first Ornitargin Squash Open in Goiania, Brazil.

Top seed Alarcon, the six-times Brazilian National champion from Sao Paulo, enjoyed a trouble-free passage through to the final when his Brazilian opponent Vinicius Costa, a qualifier who upset the sixth seed in the previous round, was forced to give the favourite a walkover in the semi-finals as the result of an injury.

By contrast, Rodriquez had to fight back from two games down to overcome Brazilian qualifier Luciano Alves Barbosa in the other semi-final.

But Alarcon battled hard in the final to topple the Colombian 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4 – thus clinching his fourth successive PSA Tour title this year, and the sixth of his career.
