Al Muzayen Retains Kuwait Crown

#PSAWorldTour

Kuwaiti number one
Abdullah Al Muzayen successfully claimed his third successive Shick Dr.Talal Fahd Al-Ahmad Al-Sobah Martyr Fahd Al-Ahmad Tournament title in his homeland – but the favourite had to fight back from two games down before overcoming England’s Eddie Charlton in the final of the PSA Challenger 10 squash event at the South Surrah Ministries Complex in Hawalli.

The World No.46 survived hour-long battles in both the quarter and semi-finals before reaching the 20th
PSA World Tour final of his career.

By contrast, second seed Charlton despatched his semi-final opponent
Abdulla Mohd Al Tamimi in straight games in just 39 minutes – the fifth seed from Qatar perhaps still feeling the effect of his impressive upset over third-seeded Pakistani Danish Atlas Khan 24 hours earlier.

The partisan crowd held their breath in stunned silence in the final as World No.55 Charlton forged a two-game lead over local hero Al Muzayen.

But the stylish left-hander regained control from the outset in the third game, taking the next three games to clinch a popular 11-13, 7-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-8 victory after 71 minutes.

The triumph marks 26-year-old Al Muzayen’s 17th Tour title – and his fifth in a row on home soil.
