Haycocks Celebrates Title Double In Brazil
England's Jaymie Haycocks collected his second successive PSA
World Tour title in South America - and denied local favourite
Rafael Alarcon home success - when he upset the second seed in
straight games in the final of the Cerdil Open, the PSA
Challenger 10 squash event at the Shopping Avenida Center in
Dourados, Brazil.
Third
seed Haycocks, the world No71 from Birmingham, dropped just one game
en-route to the final - then despatched the top-ranked Brazilian 11-8,
11-6, 11-9 in 45 minutes to follow up his title success in last week's
Paraguay Open.
Third Time Lucky For Home Hero Alarcon?
Brazilian squash star
Rafael Alarcon will contest the final of the Cerdil Open
for the third time in four years - but will be hoping to bring the title
into home hands for the first time when he faces Englishman Jaymie
Haycocks in the climax of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10
event at the Shopping Avenida Center in Dourados.
The No2 seed from Sao
Paulo beat unseeded Englishman Alex Ingham 11-9, 5-11, 11-2, 11-5
in 45 minutes and will now play in his 34th PSA Tour final.
There was unexpected
Brazilian interest in the other semi-final where Haycocks, the third
seed, faced wild card Vinicius Rodrigues. The 26-year-old from
Barsilia made the semis after stopping unseeded Benjamin Fischer,
the Swiss giant-killer who ousted top seed and defending champion Jan
Koukal in the opening round.
But Haycocks, world
No71 from Birmingham, was too strong for the Brazilian, winning 11-9,
11-5, 11-7 in 40 minutes.
The 29-year-old
Englishman is celebrating his third successive final appearance on the
PSA Tour, after winning the Paraguay Open last week.
