Farhan Follows Through In Islamabad

In a repeat of the final 12 months ago, defending champion Farhan Mehboob defeated experienced fellow Pakistani Mansoor Zaman in today's first round of the CAS International in Islamabad to earn a place in the quarter-finals of the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event in its sixth year at the Mushaf Squash Complex in the Pakistan capital.

Third seed Mehboob despatched 32-year-old Zaman, the 2001 champion, 12-10, 11-8, 11-3 and will now face Muhammad Saqib Yousaf for a place in the last four. Yousaf scraped through after beating qualifier Syed Ali Shah Bokhari 9-11, 11-2, 12-10, 9-11, 13-11 in an 82-minute marathon.

But Farhan's brother Waqas Mehboob suffered a shock defeat, going down 3-11, 11-9, 11-5, 3-0 (ret.) to qualifier Kashif Khan.

And UAE-based Pakistani Khawaja Adil Maqbool also failed to secure his expected place in the last eight - falling to qualifier Tayyab Aslam 11-3, 7-11, 13-11, 11-7.
