Zahed
Scores Surprise Jordan Win
RESULTS: PSA Challenger 5 Al Hassan Open, Amman, Jordan
In a
rare seedless final, Egyptian teenager Zahed Mohamed picked up
the first PSA World Tour squash title of his career when he beat
fellow countryman Mazen Hesham Ga Sabry to win the inaugural
Al Hassan Open in the Jordan capital Amman.
Unseeded Mohamed made his breakthrough in the opening round of the
PSA Challenger 5 event at the Al-Hassan International Squash
Center when he beat Elvinn Keo, the No3 seed from Malaysia.
But Ga
Sabry, a 17-year-old qualifier from Cairo, claimed the event's biggest
scalp by defeating top-seeded Egyptian Omar Abdel Meguid. It was
a 68-minute semi-final match which went the full distance - and earned
the youngster a place in his first Tour final.
Mohamed, a 19-year-old from Alexandria, was too strong for his opponent
in the final, however, winning 11-9, 13-11, 11-7 in 36 minutes.
