Meguid
Delivers Delft Double
RESULTS: PSA Challenger 5 Kean Delft Open, Delft, Netherlands
Egypt's Omar Abdel Meguid made a successful return to the Dutch
city of Delft when he retained the Kean Delft Open trophy
after beating local star Piedro Schweertman in the final of the
PSA Challenger 5 squash event at Squash Delft.
Seeded
to reach the final for the second year in a row, the 23-year-old from
Giza dropped just one game en-route to the climax - where he faced
unseeded Schweertman.
The
28-year-old from Amsterdam had earlier scored two notable scalps in the
event - firstly overcoming Egypt's No4 seed Karim A G A Samy in
the quarter-finals, before shocking second-seeded New Zealander
Kashif Shuja in four games in the semis.
But
Meguid, ranked more than 25 places higher than Schweertman, was too
strong for the Dutchman in the final - taking just 25 minutes to close
out the match 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
The
win takes Meguid's Tour tally to five titles from seven final
appearances.
