Corren Retains Mackay Crown

RESULTS: PSA Challenger 5 Mackay Open, Mackay, Queensland, Australia

Top-seeded South Australian Mike Corren claimed his second Mackay Open title in succession when he beat a courageous compatriot Rex Hedrick in the final of the PSA World Tour Challenger 5 squash event in Mackay in Australia.

In hot conditions in the North Queensland city, Corren prevailed 11-7, 11-8, 4-11, 11-9 over the improving 23-year-old from Melbourne to earn his 36th title on the PSA World Tour.

Sydney-based Corren, aged 37, had overcome Englishman Ben Coleman in a 64-minute semi-final, while Hedrick was too good for New Zealand's Evan Williams in the other semi.
