Al Muzayen
Celebrates Historic Lebanon Title
Kuwaiti
Abdullah Al Muzayen celebrated an historic squash success in the final
of the Senses Open in Beirut when he beat Egypt's Zahed
Mohamed to win the first PSA World Tour event ever to be held in
Lebanon.
The top
seed from Kuwait City was in sensational form at Senses Squash Club
in the Lebanese capital where he reached the climax of the PSA Challenger
5 event without dropping a game.
Left-hander Al Muzayen was marking his eighth Tour final - whilst Mohamed
was making his maiden appearance in a PSA final after a series of stunning
upsets.
The
unseeded 19-year-old from Alexandria made his breakthrough in the
quarter-finals where he beat second-seeded compatriot Ahmed Hawas in
four games.
The
unheralded teenager - ranked just inside the world top 200 - then battled
for 52 minutes in the semi-finals to overcome fellow Egyptian Basem
Makram, the No3 seed.
But Al
Muzayen was too strong for his inexperienced opponent in the final, beating
Mohamed 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 in 30 minutes to collect the fifth Tour title of
his career.
