Harford Handed Vienna Cottage Crown

England outsider Jonathan Harford stunned the top seed to reach the final of the Vienna Cottage Open at Manhattan Squash & Fitness in the Austrian capital Vienna - and later was handed the $3,000 PSA World Tour title when his opponent was forced to concede the climax.

After making his breakthrough in the quarter-finals where he beat Australia's fourth seed Josh Cardwell, sixth seed Harford scored his notable upset when he beat Egyptian favourite Mazen Gamal in the semis in four games.

His final opponent Andrea Torricini also recorded an impressive last eight success by beating second-seeded Spaniard Alejandro Garbi Caro. The fifth seed from Italy then eased into the final when Argentina's Leandro Romiglio retired injured after just one game of the other semi-final.

But Torricini's fortune came to an abrupt end when he was forced to rush home for personal family reasons - leaving the uncontested Viennese title to the 27-year-old from Birmingham.
