Corren & Camilleri Continue Tour Title Chase
Mike Corren
and Lisa Camilleri’s relentless pursuit of Tour squash titles in
Australia continued in north Queensland where they claimed top honours at the
Mackay Open in Mackay.
Corren beat fellow South Australian Justin Beard, the second seed, 6-11,
11-9, 11-8, 11-6 in the final of the men's $3,000 PSA World Tour event at
the Mackay Leisure Centre, Mackay, Queensland, Australia
The
36-year-old top seed from Millicent reached the final without dropping a game,
wrapping up his eighth Tour title of the year.
The
triumph takes Corren's overall title tally to 32 – the highest number of any
player currently on the PSA Tour.
In
the climax of the $4,000 WISPA World Tour championship, favourite
Camilleri downed Malaysia’s Siti Munirah Jusoh 11-6, 13-11, 11-8 to claim
the women’s trophy.
The
wins came a week after Corren & Camilleri took out the Caboolture Open
crowns, north of Brisbane.
The
pair have been serial winners in Australia in 2010, winning 17 titles between
them.
