Clinches Quito Crown
Colombia's
in-form Miguel Angel Rodriguez scored his fourth PSA World Tour
title in a row - and extended his unbeaten Tour run to 16 matches - when he beat
Mexican Arturo Salazar in the final of the $15,000 Ecuador Squash Open
at the Quito Tenis Y Golf Club in the Ecuador capital Quito.
Top seed
Rodriguez reached the final after beating Arturo's twin brother Cesar Salazar,
the fifth seed, in the semi-finals.
Arturo Salazar
was the event's fourth seed - and made his breakthrough in the other semi-final
match when he upset second-seeded Italian Stephane Galifi.
The
22-year-old Mexican led in the first two games against Rodriguez - but the
24-year-old Colombian edged ahead to take the first 12-10, before Salazar
levelled the match by the same score in the second.
But Rodriguez,
the world No28 from Bogota, was in no mood to give up his impressive Tour run -
and battled to take the next two games to record his 10-12, 12-10, 11-5, 11-7
title-winning victory after 65 minutes.
The win marks
the Colombian's 16th PSA Tour title - just one fewer than the career
total boasted by Egypt's world number one Ramy Ashour!
