Rafa Wraps Up Home Victory In Goiania

Top-ranked Brazilian Rafael Alarcon delighted the crowds at the inaugural 'Tour De Las Americas' Inove Open in Goiania, the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Goias, by winning the title in style at the Buriti Shopping Centre.

The top-seeded 33-year-old from Sao Paulo fought off opposition from his own country, Paraguay and Mexico to reach his third Tour final of the year and the 22nd of his career.

Waiting for the world No39 was North American rival Christopher Gordon, the second seed from New York who had also despatched his semi-final opponent in straight games.

After a close first game which went to a tie-break, Alarcon exerted his authority on the final to beat Gordon, ranked 43 places lower, 12-10, 11-8, 11-6 in 54 minutes.

The triumph notches up Alarcon's 15th PSA title - exactly seven years after winning his first on home soil in Campinas.
