Bayoumy &
Whitlock Take Top Honours In Dutch Junior Open
Moustafa
Bayoumy,
3/4 seed from Egypt, and Emily Whitlock, the second seed from England,
came away with surprise victories in the U19 finals of the 2010 Dutch Junior
Open Squash Championships, a Super Series event on the European
Squash Federation Junior Circuit at Frans Otten Stadion in
Amsterdam.
After
upsetting top-seeded compatriot Karim Ali Fathi in the semi-finals,
16-year-old Bayoumy took on second seed Robert Downer in the final.
The
Cairo-based teenager despatched Englishman Downer 11-8, 11-7, 11-3 to secure his
first ESF Junior Circuit title.
It was an
all-English battle which brought the women's U19 event to a climax - in which
underdog Whitlock, also 16 and from Colwyn Bay in Wales, denied top seed
Millie Tomlinson victory by beating the 18-year-old from Derbyshire 11-8,
11-6, 11-5.
Daughter of
former England international Phil Whitlock, Emily is now celebrating her third
U19 ESF title after winning the German Junior U19 Open and Austrian
Junior U19 Open earlier in the year.
