Carcassonne Crown
Runner-up in
the previous staging of the event, Denmark's Line Hansen successfully
celebrated her return to the French town of Carcassonne by winning the
Women's Carcassonne City Open, the $5,700 WISPA World Tour
squash event in its 10th year at the Paradis Squash De Carcassonne.
The top-seeded
Dane reached the final without dropping a game - but then faced surprise Dutch
opponent Orla Noom after the third seed upset England's Lauren Siddall,
the second seed, in straight games in the semi-finals.
After a slow
start, Hansen battled to a 6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 11-4 victory over Noom, the
24-year-old world No43 from Hoofddorp who was celebrating her tenth WISPA final
appearance.
The triumph
marks the second WISPA Tour title success this year for Hansen, but the eighth
of her career for the 27-year-old world No27 from Odense.
