Bennett Battles To Peru Prize

Dutchman Dylan Bennett justified his top billing in the inaugural Playa Blanca Open when he beat England's James Snell in the final of the $6,000 PSA World Tour squash event at Club Playa Blanca in the Peru capital Lima.

Bennett, the 25-year-old world No80 from Eindhoven, reached his 11th Tour final after beating Jose Manuel Elias in straight games in the semis – but unseeded Peruvian Elias had much to celebrate after despatching seeded opposition from Argentina and Canada to reach the last four in only his first month as a member of the Professional Squash Association.

Second seed Snell had a tougher route to the climax, his fourth PSA final.  The 22-year-old from Exeter was taken the full distance by Gonzalo Miranda in the other semi before beating the fourth seed from Argentina in five games.

Bennett battled for 48 minutes in the final before overcoming Snell 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6 to claim the fourth PSA Tour title of his career.
