Sensational Salvia Scores Surprise Spanish Success

Spanish qualifier Oriol Salvia eliminated all opposition in his path in the Esportiu Rocafort Open to win the $4,000 PSA World Tour squash title in its 11th successive year at Club Esportiu Rocafort in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

The unranked 34-year-old from Barcelona first defeated fourth seed Stefan Brauneis, then ousted Frenchman Florent Pontiere before upsetting Leandro Romiglio, the top seed from Argentina, in the semi-finals.

Salvia, winner of the title in 2008 and now in his third final in a row, faced Lewis Walters, the second seed from England.

But the local hero was too strong for the 21-year-old from Nottingham – winning 11-4, 11-9, 11-5 to claim the second Tour title of his life.
