Delasaux Delights In Saskatoon Success

England's Laurence Delasaux marked the latest chapter in his return to the PSA World Squash Tour after more than two years away by winning the $10,000 Saskatoon Boast Open at the YMCA of Saskatoon in Saskatoon in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

After reaching 77 in the PSA rankings in 2006, the 24-year-old from Hull decided to pursue other interests.  But his love of Squash returned this year - and he rejoined PSA.

By beating fifth seed Robin Clarke in the Saskatoon Open semi-finals - his third successive win against the Canadian over the past two months - Delasaux reached his fifth PSA Tour event final as a qualifier since June.

The English underdog, ranked 149 in the world, now faced top seed Aaron Frankcomb - but again was too strong for the world No38 from Australia as he coasted to an 11-7, 11-3, 11-5 victory in 42 minutes.

The success marks Delasaux's second Tour title success since his comeback - and the fourth of his career.

It also - surely - signals another rankings rise for the Yorkshireman who started his comeback at 371 in the PSA list and leapt more than 100 places to his current position in November.

English Pair Score In Saskatoon

English pair Lewis Walters and Laurence Delasaux upset the form book in the first round of the Saskatoon Boast Open when they overturned seeded opponents in the $10,000 PSA World Tour squash event at the YMCA of Saskatoon in Saskatoon in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

Qualifier Delasaux, ranked 149 in the world, defeated sixth-seeded compatriot Neil Hitchens 11-9, 11-5, 11-6.  The 24-year-old from Hull will now take on Mexico's Arturo Salazar, the No2 seed who is ranked more than 100 places higher.

Unseeded Walters, the world No 133, despatched local hope Tyler Hamilton, the No8 seed from Burlington, Ontario, 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 in just 26 minutes – and will now face Arturo's twin brother Cesar Salazar, the fourth seed.
