Siddall strongest in Zwolle final

Lauren Siddall claimed the second WISPA Tour title of her career with an impressive display against Celia Allamargot in the final of the Eurosafe Solutions Zwolle Open 2009.

The 24-year old Pontefract based player dominated play from the word go in today’s final against a tired looking French opponent who had three good wins to make it to her first ever WISPA final. Siddall clinched the opening game with ease, but had to fight back from a 5-1 deficit in the second to keep the initiative and the lead. The third proved a formality as the third seeded Siddall powered her way to victory with a great mix of hard and low drives and delicate drops: 11-3, 11-7, 11-5.

It was the second time that Siddall proved victorious on the Women’s International Squash Players Association World Tour after claiming the Norwegian Open crown in 2007

Siddall And Allamargot In Zwolle Final

Lauren Siddall and Celia Allamargot will contest the final of the Eurosafe Solutions Zwolle Open 2009 tomorrow afternoon after an exciting day of play at the WISPA tournament in the Dutch city of Zwolle.

The 24-year old Siddall from Pontefract moved into the climax of the $4.000usd event with a straight games win over ‘giant killer’ Deon Saffery who earlier in the day knocked out top seed Annelize Naudé. The world number 43 survived a tense opening game against her regular training partner in England, before cruising into her fourth final of her career with a 12-10, 11-6, 11-6 score line.

The one year younger Allamargot, hailing from La Rochelle in France, reached her maiden WISPA Tour final after defeating Kylie Lindsay from New Zealand. With the score tied at 1 game all, the French international, ranked 65th in the world, proved mentally stronger at the end of the crucial third game, before racing away from her higher ranked opponent early on in the fourth: 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6.

Tomorrow’s final will be the second time that Siddall and Allamargot will meet on the WISPA World Tour, having previously clashed during the Canary Islands Open with the English girl coming out on top in a hard fought four game battle.
