Delia Canters To Wah Cantt Success In
Pakistan
Malaysia's Delia Arnold recorded her second WISPA World Tour
squash title of the year when she beat compatriot Lim Yoke Wah in
the final of the POF WISPA Wah Cantt Open at the Jahangir Khan
Squash Complex in the Punjab city of Wah Cantt in Pakistan.
It was the second year in a row that the previous year's runner-up claimed
the trophy!
Arnold, the 21-year-old top seed from Kuala Lumpur, reached the final
without dropping a game.
In the semi-final in the bottom half of the draw, second seed Lim Yoke Wah
was stretched to five games before beating local hero Maria Toor Pakay,
the Pakistan national champion.
But Arnold was too strong in the final, triumphing 9-6, 9-4, 9-4 to become
the second Malaysian to win the Pakistan title, after Sharon Wee in
2006.
Maria Misses Out On Maiden WISPA Final
Pakistan's top woman squash player Maria Toor Pakay missed out on
making her maiden appearance in a WISPA World Tour final after
losing a five-game semi-final thriller in the POF WISPA Wah Cantt Open
at the Jahangir Khan Squash Complex in the Punjab city of Wah
Cantt in Pakistan.
The 16-year-old left-hander from Peshawar, who won her first national
title this year, took the opening two games against No2 seed Lim Yoke
Wah. But the Malaysian soon regained the upper hand and closed
out the match 8-10, 3-9, 9-5, 9-3, 9-2 in 48 minutes.
The third staging of the Tour event will climax in its second successive
all-Malaysian final when Lim Yoke Wah faces favourite Delia Arnold.
The 21-year-old from Kuala Lumpur, who finished as runner-up last year,
beat fourth-seeded compatriot Siti Munirah Jusoh 10-8, 9-4, 9-6 in
the other semi-final.
