REPORTS

Crome Captures Maiden WISPA Crown
New Zealand's Louise Crome lifted her maiden WISPA World Tour title when she upset England's top seed Sarah Kippax in the final of the Women's Savcor Finnish Open Squash Championship in Mikkeli, Finland.

The 28-year-old from Auckland was in complete control in the first two games, establishing a 2/0 lead after 20 minutes.

But Kippax came back in the third and soon regained the upper hand to draw level, forcing the match into a fifth game decider.

The favourite's recovery was short-lived, however, as second-seeded Crome found the energy and accuracy that she had shown in the first two games - and after just seven minutes of play in the game, the Kiwi celebrated her 9-2, 9-5, 6-9, 7-9, 9-1 victory.

"I'm really happy to win my first WISPA title," said the delighted new champion afterwards.  "I played here also in 2002 and wanted to come back again.  It was a tough match!" added Crome.

Kippax & Crome Reach Finnish Open Final
Top seeds Sarah Kippax and Louise Crome will meet in the final of the Women's Savcor Finnish Open Squash Championship after coming through four-game semi-finals in the long-established WISPA World Tour event in Mikkeli, Finland.

England's No1 seed Kippax, from Chester, is celebrating her second successive appearance in the Mikkeli final after beating Orla Noom, the fourth seed from the Netherlands, 10-8, 9-6, 6-9, 9-2.

While Kippax is marking her 5th appearance in a WISPA World Tour event final, with a single title to her name (the Enschede Open in the Netherlands, last November), second seed Crome now boasts her 7th final appearance - but is still looking for her maiden Tour title.

The 28-year-old New Zealander from Auckland beat Hong Kong's third seed Christina Mak 9-5, 4-9, 9-5, 9-5.
