Ferreira Romps To Rochester Success
Mexico's Jorge Isaac Baltazar Ferreira swept to victory in the Rochester Pro Squash Open in Rochester in the USA to claim his second successive title on the PSA Tour.
The top seed from Mexico City was taken to four games in his semi-final against South Africa 's Regardt Schonborn, the fourth seed.
Scotland's Kristen Johnson secured his first appearance in a Tour final after ending James Snell's run, beating the English qualifier in four games.
In a closely-contested final, the 24-year-old Mexican beat seventh-seeded Johnson 11-9, 11-10 (2-0), 11-5 to win his first title of the year - and maintain his unbeaten record since winning the Bieber Securities Fall Classic trophy in Winnipeg last November.
Chris Takes Thompson To Task In Rochester Pro
English qualifier Chris Tasker-Grindley played his penultimate match as a junior in sensational style when he upset second seed Ryan Thompson in the first round of the Rochester Pro Squash Open in Rochester in the USA.
Gloucestershire's Tasker-Grindley, who celebrates his 19th birthday on Sunday, despatched the Namibian 11-9, 11-9, 11-10 (2-0) to set up a surprise quarter-final against Scotland's Kristen Johnson.
Fellow qualifiers Matthew Serediak, from Canada, and James Snell, from England, will battle it out for a place in the semi-finals after straight games upsets over Aqeel Rehman and Michal Reid, the fifth and third seeds respectively.
