Galifi Banned For Two Years
French squash player Stephane Galifi has been banned for two years
French squash player Stephane Galifi has been banned for two years, jointly by the World Squash Federation (WSF) and Professional Squash Association (PSA).
A judgement of the Anti-Doping Tribunal found that the player was "in breach of the World Squash Anti-Doping Code", and that, in accordance with Article 10.2, "will be ineligible for the period of two years from the date of this decision to participate in any capacity in any event or activity authorized or organized by WSF or PSA or a National Squash Association under the jurisdiction of WSF".
Furthermore, Galifi will "forfeit all computer ranking points earned and return to WSF and PSA all prize money without deduction for tax earned at all subsequent recognised events in which he competed following the time he provided the first adverse analytical finding until the commencement of ineligibility".
The substances involved were Cocaine and Cannabis, identified in tests undertaken at the Competition National, at Cranves Sales on 27th February 2005, and the Irish Open, in Dublin on 14th April 2005.
The ban will take effect for two years from 9th August 2005, during which time Galifi will be unable to compete in any PSA or WSF events, or those organised by National Federations under the auspices of the WSF.
Galifi will forfeit all ranking points and prize money earned from the time of the first positive sample through to the commencement of the ineligibility period.
The whole process was carried out in strict accordance with the processes described in the World Anti-Doping Code.
