US Junior Team prepares for Islamabad
The US Junior National Squash team is in the final stages of preparation for August's World Junior Team and Individual Championships ...
The tournament takes place in Islamabad, Pakistan August 17-28 at the
brand new Mushaf Squash Complex. The first week is the Individual
Tournament where all entrants play it out for the Individual Title. The
second week is the Team Event where the US Team hopes to dramatically
improve on its 8th place finish in 2002.
The team just returned from a successful trip to play in the German and
Dutch Opens. They are currently practicing at their various home clubs
leading up to the team's departure on August 12th. The team will have 4
days of practice in Islamabad while they are acclimating to Pakistan's
climate and time zone right before the start of the event.
The US Team (listed alphabetically):
Garnett Booth- finished 3rd at
the US Jr Nationals this year and had a very successful Freshman
campaign at Harvard.
Christopher Gordon- Current US
National Champion and a 9/16 seed in the Individual Draw at the World
Championships
Joe Raho- former US U13 and U15
champion
Suleyman Saleem- will play at
Upenn next year

Mike Callaway- Head Coach:
Westchester Squash Manager and Coaching Professional; USSRA Junior
Squads Assistant Director; SRA Level IV Coach; England Junior National
Team Assistant Coach; World Class High Performance Coach
Chris Smith- Assistant Coach-
Director of Squash at SquashBusters, four-year letter winner at Hobart
College in Geneva, NY where he compiled at 47-26 individual record and
captained the team his senior year. Currently ranked #248 in the
Professional Squash Association.
Vijay Chitnis- Manager: USSRA
Director of Junior Development, former Head Coach of the St. Lawrence
University men's and women's squash program.
