| 19-Aug-04: CHARITY SQUASH IN MALAYSIA ... World squash stars will take on the role of Good Samaritans this weekend, Sat 21st August, in aid of the Protect and Save The Children organisation in Malaysia. France's recently crowned Super Series champion, Thierry Lincou, together with countryman Gregory Gaultier, will join forces with local stars Ong Beng Hee, Moh'd Azlan Iskandar, Nicol David and Sharon Wee to take on members of the public. Joining them in this charitable cause are Egyptian Wael El Hindi and Englishman Bradley Ball. The event will be held at the National Squash Centre, home of the 1998 Commonwealth Games and most recently, the Asian Squash Championship and YTL Malaysian Open. Members of the public who have for years watched top stars battle it out on the all glass court now have the opportunity to battle it out against the creme de la creme of the squash world, with each player taking on up to 30 players. Who knows, it could serve as the best ever warm up ahead of the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Open for the players.....
The challenge will also see junior squash champions-to-be playing against
the big names as an exposure in their playing career. Protect and Save The Children is a
non-government organisation that aims to fill the gap in services
concerning the sexual abuse of children. The organisation offers
counselling and therapy to victims of child sexual abuse and also raises
awareness amongst the general public. |
