City Cup charity event.
Sheffield hosts Squash's own Battle of the Sexes this Thursday
(24th) when Nick Matthew and Laura Massaro captain opposing teams at
the Steel City Cup - all in aid of The Children's Hospital Charity,
Sheffield.
Former squash world champions Matthew and Massaro will lead two
all-star teams during a series of fun, squash-based challenges in
aid of the charity, where Matthew is a patron.
Sheffield squash star Matthew has called in a host of sporting
friends to have some fun on court and help the fundraising efforts.
BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker will take on Sheffield Shark's
basketball captain Mike Tuck in the battle of the big men, both
standing over 6ft 4in, whilst star boxers Kid Galahad and Paul
'Silky' Jones will swap gloves for rackets on the night.
Matthew himself will face up against fellow PSA pro and Malaysian
No.1 Nafiizwan Adnan whilst Massaro will take on up talented
youngster and member of the Nick Matthew Academy, Nick Wall Jr. To
complete the line up James Biggin, MD of Steel City Marketing, who
have been instrumental in putting the event together, will face
another Nick Matthew Academy player Charlotte Jagger.
"We've got a brilliant line-up on both teams so it should be a lot
of fun to watch," said Matthew. "The Children's Hospital Charity
does amazing work so hopefully we'll raise a lot of money on the
night."
"It's going to be a lot of fun and we'll be going all out to win on
the night," said Massaro. "Nick and I are really good mates and I
know he'll be ready to give me some stick if we
lose!"
