REPORTS
Zac Alexander dominates in Cairns Final

Australian Zac Alexander continued his domination of Australian tournaments as he collected an eighth title of the 2016 alone at the Carins Open.

Alexander has triumphed in all but one tournament played on home soiling the calendar year, with his second round exit at the Australian Open the only blemish on his record, and he continued to impress as he romped to glory at the PSA M5 tournament after securing consecutive straight game wins to set up a final decider with Steve Finitsis – the former World No.45 who retired from full time play earlier this year.

In a 60minute decider Alexander came through 3-1, dropping the third game to the experienced Finitsis, to claim the title while it was New Zealand’s Amanda Landers-Murphy who took the spoils in the women’s event – her third consecutive win in Australia.

After winning the Queensland Open and Mackay Open the 25-year-old extended her winning streak to 12-matches as she came through the field, defeating top seeded Ho Tze-Lok in the process, to lift her ninth career title.
