NOVEMBER - WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Serme wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month
award
Camille
Serme has been named Squash Player’s Female Player of the Month for
November after becoming the first French woman to win the US Open.
The 27-year-old sixth seed defeated world no.2 Laura Massaro in the
quarter-finals and world no.1 Nour El Sherbini in the final of the
$150,000 tournament in October to claim the 11th PSA World Tour
title of her career.
“To be honest, I had no real ambition for this tournament, except
enjoying playing again and trying to apply what I had been working
on with my coach [Philippe Signoret] in the last 10 days before the
start of the US Open.
“After losing in the first round of the Al-Ahram Open, I was a bit
lost and my coach and I really wondered what we should do to
improve, so winning this US Open, my second major title, was
amazing!
“I think I was very focused on what to do tactically on court and
wasn’t thinking about what was at stake or who I was playing.
“I think it was as important and big as winning the British Open
last year, because it came at a difficult time for me.”
