Saxby wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month
award

Australia’s
Tamika Saxby has been named Squash Player’s Female Player of the
Month for July after winning her second PSA Tour W5 title in a row
in June.
The 23-year-old from New South Wales followed her success in the
City of Perth International Challenge in May – where she was seeded
fourth – by landing the Sandgate Open trophy in Queensland as an
unseeded player.
In both tournaments she beat world no.47 Sarah Cardwell, the
favourite – in the final in Perth and in the quarter-finals in
Deagon, where Saxby overcame second seed Lisa Camilleri in the
final.
Saxby’s Australian double saw the former world no.55 jump up the
rankings, from 150th in May to 93rd in July.
She explained: “After almost a year out of action and a change in
location, returning back to Australia after two years in Edinburgh,
Scotland, I’ve gained new perspective on my squash and myself.
“Those experiences spent living, training and playing overseas have
really come through in my game now. The other factor is being
surrounded by friends and family over past few months. That support
has really given me a confidence boost!”
