Saxby On Song At Sandgate Open

Unseeded Tamika Saxby continued her outstanding run of form with a 3-1 victory in the Sandgate Open.

In front of a full house in Queensland, the 23-year-old Australian proved too strong for second seed Lisa Camilleri, emerging a 3-1 victor.

The last time the pair met was in the semi-finals of the City of Perth Squash Challenge which resulted in a win for Saxby.

A repeat looked on the cards as she took the first two games 11-8, 11-5 before Camilleri responded to take the third 4-11. But that just delayed the inevitable as the 23-year-old swept her opponent away 11-1 in the fourth.

A delighted Saxby said afterwards: “It is great to get a second win at home. I had a strong first two games, however lost my way in the third game. I managed to piece it together for a strong fourth game.”
