Squash Shortlisted for Governing Body of the Year Award |
England Squash is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in
the Governing Body of the Year category at the 2016 BT Sport Industry
Awards.
The BT Sport Industry Awards is the most prestigious commercial sports
awards in Europe and the industry’s flagship event. The award recognises
single sport governing bodies or operators of a league or competition,
that have significantly shone across three key pillars: Leadership,
Community and Performance.
England Squash are shortlisted for the coveted award along with five
others including British Fencing, British Gymnastics, England Hockey,
Premiership Rugby and The Football League.
Reacting to the news, Keir Worth, England Squash CEO, commented, “I am
thrilled and proud that England Squash has been shortlisted for one of
the most prestigious awards in British sport.
“This is fantastic recognition of the progress made over the last 12
months, and whilst there is much to be done, to be acknowledged for the
progress to date is very encouraging for the whole squash community.”
Nick Keller, chairman, Sport Industry Group, said: “In a year when
national governing bodies are reviewing their roles, not just in sport
but in society, it’s fantastic to see such a diverse group of
organisations that are making such an effort to take sport into our
communities, reach higher levels of performance, and engage with the
corporate world.”
The Official Shortlist was selected through an extensive process
involving a specialist steering committee.
The winners will be announced at the star-studded ceremony on 28th
April.
