Squash Player's Comeback of the Year Awards

Mosaad And King The Comeback Stars

Egypt’s Omar Mosaad and New Zealander Joelle King achieved the Comebacks of the Year in 2015, according to Squash Player’s panel of judges.

Mosaad reached the World Championship final just a few months after his mother and sister died in a tragic car accident, while King claimed the Australian Open in August in her second World Tour event back after an Achilles injury.

Other awards announced in Issue 1 of the magazine, which comes out at the end of this week, are for Surprise of the Year, Highlight of the Year and Team of the Year.

US Creteil take the team accolade for dethroning defending champions and French rivals Mulhouse 3-0 to land their first European club title.

The surprise of 2015 was the ending of Nicol David’s 109-month reign as world no.1 by Raneem El Welily, while the highlight was James Willstrop’s victory over world no.1 Mohamed Elshorbagy in the World Championship third round after the Englishman’s career-threatening hip injury.
