Squash Player's Players of the Year Awards
Gaultier And Massaro Are Players Of Year
World
men's champion Greg Gaultier and world women's no.1 Laura Massaro
are Squash Player's Players of the Year for 2015.
The two annual awards are announced in Issue 1 of the magazine,
which comes out at the end of this week.
Gaultier was chosen after becoming the oldest first-time winner of
the PSA Men’s World Championship at the age of 32 in the USA in
November.
After holding five match balls in the 2006 World Championship final
and then suffering three more World Championship final defeats, many
wondered whether this supremely-gifted player would ever win the big
one.
However, following a 16-year career and with time possibly running
out, Gaultier finally achieved his dream success in Seattle to
become France's second world champion after Thierry Lincou.
Massaro
was handed the women’s accolade after a sensational end to the year,
in which she won the Macau and U.S. Opens as well as the Qatar
Classic.
The English star, who had taken two months off earlier in the year
to recharge her batteries, followed up by heading the women’s
rankings for the first time in her career.
