Brushes Off Bon Jovi Bong to Take Malaysian Title
Top seed Eddie Charlton ensured that he will end 2015 in style after
lifting his first PSA World Tour title of the year at the Malaysian
Tour XI, PSA M5 event by defeating home favourite Valentino Bon Jovi
Bong in the final.
Charlton secured his final berth by downing Bon Jovi Bong’s fellow
Malaysian Elvinn Keo in straight games while Bon Jovi Bong saw off
Adam Murrills in four.
Appearing in his first PSA World Tour final in front of a partizan
home crowd, Bon Jovi Bong pushed his opponent all the way in an
opening game that saw both players mix up their games in a bid to
seize the initiative.
However, Charlton pulled away to open up a one-game advantage and he
surged to victories in the next two to wrap up an 11-9, 11-3, 11-3
triumph.
Victory in Malaysia sees Charlton capture his fifth PSA World Tour
title and his first since May 2014.

Jovi Bong Battles Through To Maiden PSA Final

Malaysia’s Valentino Bon Jovi Bong secured a place in his first
ever PSA World Tour final after sealing a 3-1 victory over
England’s Adam Murrills on home soil in the semi-final of the
Malaysian Tour XI, PSA M5 event.
The first game between the pair was a tightly-contested clash
which Bon Jovi Bong took on the tie-break and he went on to
double his advantage in the second.
Despite Murrills clawing a consolation game back in the third,
World No.156 Bon Jovi Bong held on to close out a 12-10, 11-7,
4-11, 11-6 triumph to move through to the showpiece event.
Top seed Eddie Charlton awaits the Malaysian 26-year-old in the
final after he dispatched Elvinn Keo in a straightforward 3-0
win.

Hopes Reach Semi-final Stage In Malaysia

Malaysian duo Elvinn Keo and Valentino Bon Jovi Bong secured
their places in the semi-final of the Malaysian Tour Squash XI,
PSA M5 event after defeating Tang Ming Hong and Youssef Ibrahim
Abdallah, respectively.
Keo in particular was in devastating form as he eliminated Ming
Hong with a supremely efficient performance which showcased the
World No.142’s speed around court.
He stormed to the victory in three, recording an 11-3, 11-8,
11-6 victory to sweep through to the last four on home soil.
His opponent in the semi-final will be top seed Eddie Charlton
who recovered from a one-game deficit to prevail against
qualifier Tsun Hei Yuen.
Bon Jovi Bong meanwhile will line up against England’s Adam
Murrills for a place in the final after the number two seed
downed Dani Pascual in four.

Number three seed Rachel Arnold recovered from a 2-1 deficit to beat
surprise package Menna Hamed in the final of the Malaysian Tour XI,
PSA M5 tournament – securing her first ever PSA World Tour title in
the process.
Arnold had dropped just a single game en-route to the final while
Hamed had shocked a trio of seeds to book her spot in the showpiece
event.
It was Arnold’s third final on the 2015 instalment of the Malaysian
Tour with her two previous final appearances ending in defeats.
A strong start saw the Malaysian surge into a one-game lead but a
gargantuan effort from Hamed saw her turn the match on its head as
she went 2-1 ahead for the loss of a solitary point in game three.
However, Arnold came battling back and wrestled the momentum of the
match in her favour, eventually rising to claim an exceptionally
hard-fought 11-4, 10-12, 1-11, 11-9, 11-9 victory.

And Arnold To Meet In Women’s Malaysian Tour Final

Egyptian qualifier Menna Hamed and Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold are
set to go head-to-head in the final of the Malaysian Tour XI,
PSA W5 tournament after they claimed victories over Zulhijjah
Binti Azan and Christine Nunn, respectively.
Hamed, who previously eliminated Sammer Anjum and Teh Min Jie,
made it a trio of defeated seeds as she also took out Binti Azan
after a second successive five-game battle.
She dropped the opening game but recovered well and eventually
took the victory courtesy of a 4-11, 13-11, 11-7, 10-12, 11-3
scoreline to reach her maiden PSA World Tour final.
Arnold meanwhile will contest the final on home soil after
dispatching number one seed Nunn in straight games and she
appears at her third final in the 2015 instalment of the
Malaysian Tour.

Shocks Second Seed On Women’s Malaysian Tour

Egyptian qualifier Menna Hamed has reached her first ever PSA
World Tour semi-final after upsetting home favourite Teh Min Jie
in the pair’s mammoth quarter-final fixture in the Malaysian
Tour XI, PSA W5 tournament.
After a brutal opener which Min Jie took on the tie-break, Hamed
battled back to ensure parity before conceding another closely
fought game to her opponent.
However, she recovered brilliantly from the deficit to edge out
a gruelling 13-15, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9, 11-6 triumph to reach the
last four.
She will do battle with another Malaysian, Zulhijjah Binti Azan,
in the next round after Azan came through comfortably against
Aifa Azman.
Christine Nunn and Rachel Arnold will contest the other
semi-final fixture after Nunn advanced against Aika Azman and
Arnold beat Sadia Gul.
