September - Men's PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Alfredo Avila has been named Player of the Month for September by the
authoritative London-based Squash Player magazine after becoming the
first qualifier to win the $50,000 Colombian Open.
The world no.54 claimed easily the biggest title of his career by
upsetting fifth seed Fares Dessouki, third seed Borja Golan, second seed
Peter Barker and sixth seed Saurav Ghosal in Bogota.
"I am really, really happy to have won today, but not just today, also
to have won every hard match during the tournament," said the
24-year-old after collecting the seventh PSA Tour title of his career.
"This is my first title in a PSA M50 tournament and this is amazing for
me and my people."
Avila’s previous best victory came in the $15,000 Manitoba Open in
Canada in March. It was the first time a Mexican had won the Colombian
Open.
