“It was pretty physical and it was quite bouncy out there and, with
the higher tin, difficult to really finish the ball. Greg was
hitting the ball quite hard and trying to keep the ball really hot
and I was trying to hit more winners so it was a real contrast of
styles. I felt a bit flat this week but still managed to win 3-0 for
most of the matches so I’m pretty happy about that.
“I’ve just got a few minor things to change for next week and to
step up for the $25k event [Australian Open]. I’ll spend the next
day or so relaxing and get ready for Wednesday and start again.”

Women's Event
Indian Women’s National Champion Joshana Chinappa stormed to the
Victorian Open, PSA M15 title after romping to victory over second
seed Line Hansen in the final to lift her first PSA World Tour title
in over a year.
Chinappa blitzed past Christine Nunn in the semi-final with a superb
3-0 victory while Hansen saw off Siyoli Waters in a closely
contested match.
The number three seed had the early impetus in the showpiece event,
going on to claim the opening two games with aplomb to open up a
strong lead over her higher-seeded opponent.
Hansen fought back with a vengeance in the third and final game but
it still wasn’t enough to prevent an effervescent Chinappa from
completing an 11-5, 11-4, 11-9 triumph.
“Today I won the first two games comfortably but it was still hard
at the same time and the third was a little tricky,” said Chinappa.
“We got to nine-all and it could have been anyone’s game so I was
glad I could close it out in three because Line is a tough
competitor. As she said in her post match interview yesterday, we
played at Kooyong last week and I lost there so I was really looking
forward to this today. The win sets up a great lead in to the
Australian Open.
“I’m so happy it’s at the same centre. The courts are fabulous and
the venue is great but of course with Annie [Au] and Joelle [King],
the competition is going to be that much tougher.”
It is Chinappa’s 10th PSA World Tour title and is sure to provide a
big confidence boost for the 28-year-old head of the bigger events
to come.
