NEWS BRIEF

Newly-crowned world champion and world no.1 Ali Farag reveals his route to the top in an exclusive interview with Squash Player's Richard Eaton in the magazine's first issue of 2019.

The 26-year-old Egyptian tells the doyen of squash writers about how he found his way to the game's summit via paths he never intended to follow and his plans for the future.

There are also interviews with three more top men's players, with triple world champion Ramy Ashour and world no.5 Simon Rosner discussing aspects of their games with Ian McKenzie, who also speaks to world no.7 Paul Coll about his fine recent form, while Scotland's Lisa Aitken speaks to Simon Redfern about her impressive year.

We have extensive coverage as well of squash's latest Olympic snub via World Squash Federation chief executive Andrew Shelley and Rod Gilmour, and we look at the new venue for the British Open in Hull in May.

In addition, all the regular sections are there, including On Court and Workshop, while physios Derek Ryan and Phil Newton contribute articles on strength & conditioning for squash and treating hip pain respectively
