Farag wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award

Farag has been voted Squash Player’s Player of the Month, after winning
the $180,000 Tournament of Champions in January for the first time.
The Egyptian second favourite beat his top-seeded compatriot, Mohamed
ElShorbagy, in a dramatic, 84-minute final in New York.
Farag looked down and out in Grand Central’s Vanderbilt Hall after going
two games behind and 6-2 down in the third.
But the 26-year-old fought back valiantly to take the third and fourth
games to level at 2-2, before claiming the fifth 11-8 and the 14th PSA
title of his career.
"Mohamed is such a warrior; he never gives any points away,” Farag said
afterwards.
“It's been one of the biggest spectacles for the sport and to be played
in such a clean spirit is a great showcase for our sport." |
