David wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award
 Malaysian
icon Nicol David is Squash Player’s Women’s Player of the Month after
marking her 35th birthday with a fifth Asian Games singles gold medal
and her fourth in succession.
The former world no.1 and tournament favourite defeated team-mate and
joint fifth seed Sivasangari Subramaniam 3/2 in a thrilling final in
Indonesia to win the title 20 years after her first success in the
event.
David had to fight back from 2/1 down to overcome the 19-year-old
Subramaniam 11-13, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6, 11-8 in 52 minutes in her sixth
successive Asian Games final.
The eight-time world champion has lost only once in the event – to Hong
Kong’s Rebecca Chiu in the 2002 final.
