April - WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Sedki wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award
American
Reeham Sedky is Squash Player’s Women’s Player of the Month, after
reaching the final of the $25,000 Texas Open in March as a qualifier.
The 20-year-old world no.223 knocked out top seed Hania El Hammamy,
fourth seed Mayar Hany and seventh seed Danielle Tourneau before losing
to former world no.6 Amanda Sobhy 3/1 in the final in Houston.
Sedky, who also finished runner-up to Sobhy in the US National
Championship in March, said: “The Texas Open is definitely the biggest
result of my career.
“Last year, although I had some wins against top 20 players at the World
Team Championship, this was different, because I played four
back-to-back matches against players in the top 40.
“Beating the world no.22, Hania El Hammamy, was the catalyst to a great
tournament for me and gave me more confidence for my hopes for the PSA
Tour in the next couple of years after college.”
The University of Pennsylvania student also excelled at the US
Nationals, beating world no.13 and defending champion Olivia Blatchford
3/1 en route to the final, where she lost 3/0 to Sobhy.
