Rösner follows up becoming the first German winner of a PSA World Series
event by being named Squash Player’s February Men’s Player of the Month.
The 30-year-old was an overwhelming choice after defeating fifth seed
Marwan ElShorbagy, top seed Gregory Gaultier and seventh seed Tarek
Momen to win the $165,000 Tournament of Champions in New York in
January.
“It’s a unbelievable feeling,” said Rösner after beating Egypt’s Momen
11-8, 11-9, 6-11,
11-5 in the 71-minute final under the chandeliers of Grand Central
Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall.
“That was the biggest match of my career and to win it is incredible.
Coming here this week, I didn’t expect to win the championship, but this
is what you work for every day.
“To play on this kind of stage is the reason you wake up, train hard,
stay disciplined and go through all of that.
“For that to pay off, in New York, in Grand Central Terminal, with the
Tournament of Champions title - it’s unbelievable."
