Evans wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award
Wales
no.1 Tesni Evans has been chosen as Squash Player’s Women’s Player of
the Month for December after she reached her first PSA World Series
quarter-final at the Hong Kong Open.
The 14th seed from Rhyl defeated eighth seed Alison Waters 3/0 before
taking former world champion Laura Massaro to four games in the last
eight.
The world no.16 said of her achievement: “I rank it very high, as it’s
something I have wanted to achieve for a while and it normally means
that you’ve had to beat someone ranked within the top eight in the world
to get there.
“Having made a quarter-final, I’d have to say my next target now would
be to reach a semi-final in a World Series event.”
The 25-year-old attributed her performance in Hong Kong down to
“consistent hard work over a long period of time just coming together,
along with some experience and a bit more belief in with that as well.”
