Farag wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month award
Egyptian
Ali Farag has been named Squash Player’s Male Player of the Month for
November, after winning the first PSA World Series event of his career
at the U.S. Open and reaching the final of the $100,000 St George’s Hill
Classic.
The U.S. Open success – where the fourth-seeded Farag defeated second
favourite Mohamed ElShorbagy in the final – was particularly special, as
wife Nour El Tayeb also notched her first World Series triumph in
Philadelphia.
“It’s a dream, especially that we have done it together on the same
night,” said the world no.5. “We couldn’t have asked for a better week
and I hope it’s the first of many to come together.
“I always believed in myself and this win is going to make me believe
even more and hopefully I carry this momentum into future tournaments. I
can enjoy it tonight and then tomorrow I have to forget about it and
move on.”
The 25-year-old did carry that momentum forward to the M100 event at
Weybridge in England, where he fulfilled his no.2 seeding, only for
ElShorbagy to get his revenge over Farag in the final.
