Chan wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month
award
Hong
Kong’s Joey Chan has been nominated as Squash Player’s Player of the
Month for August after winning the silver medal at the World Games
in Poland.
Although the 29-year-old joint third seed lost in straight games to
French favourite Camille Serme in the final, she had already
exceeded expectations by stunning eight-time world champion Nicol
David in the semi-finals.
“The silver medal means a lot and it is one of my biggest
achievements in squash career,” said Chan. “The World Games is a
multi-sporting event and so to be able to win a silver medal for
Hong Kong is incredible.
“I was seeded 3/4 in the draw and so set a target of getting into
the top four before I went to Wroclaw. The feeling of meeting and
going beyond my seeding was great, and it was a breakthrough in my
squash career.
“Most importantly, it always feels great to see the flag of your
country rise up in the prize ceremony in a such big sporting event.”
