Gaultier wins Squash Player’s Player of the Month
award
With
two more M100 titles added to his collection in May, France’s Greg
Gaultier is the overwhelming winner of Squash Player’s Male Player
of the Month for June.
The 34-year-old won the Grasshopper Cup in Switzerland and the
Bellevue Classic in the USA to return to the top of the PSA World
Rankings, breaking his own record as the oldest world no.1.
“There's no secret - it’s all about hard work,” said Gaultier, who
has now won six PSA World Tour titles in succession and 27 Tour
matches in a row.
“I’ve been training hard for 30 years. My motivation this year came
from the frustration I had in 2016, missing so many events through
injury. That really fired me up.
"But I’ve also been able to relax myself on court and that’s allowed
me to play better squash.”
Gaultier now aims to finish the season in style by retaining the
World Series Finals trophy he won in Dubai last year.
“I’ve had an amazing run since January and hopefully I can keep on
playing as well as I can," he added.
